HOMAGE TO THE AMALFI COAST: UNDER THE UMBRELLAS OF ATRANI

As temperatures are dropping and summer vacation starts to seem like a distant memory, you might find yourself dreaming of Mediterranean beach days. Well at least for my part – which is why I am sharing my personal Italian seaside time with you. We tend to forget the bad parts and keep remembering only the good images, so it actually makes sense to reevaluate the latest actions (and trips) you’ve taken in order not to make the same mistakes next time.

I guess you’ve heard plenty of great things about the small town called Positano at the Amalfi coast. But are you aware of the super small city Atrani with a surface of only 0.12 km2, located to the east of Amalfi? It is known for its scenic view of antique houses facing the beach directly and a bridge for vehicles built around the city to protect the historic municipal. And of course, also famous for its charming beach full of blue sun umbrellas and soft dark sand. If you’re around exploring the Amalfi Coast, it is most certainly worth a visit! So, what is the learning here? Well for my point of view, I would have planned more time in Atrani or Amalfi and should have passed on the touristy Positano but on the other hand I wouldn’t have made this experience and couldn’t draw this conclusion. Let’s just call it a different time schedule, then.

When it comes to clothing, we can skip the evaluation and jump directly to the bottom line because of my former made learnings in case of fashion matters in Mediterranean regions: definitely go for loose fitting and comfortable clothes instead for following the claim “the shorter the better” which is why I chose long flowing maxi dresses or skirts to survive the heat and the humid climate. This summer I became I huge fan of minimalistic long dresses as for example this one from EDITED (and as you might have already guessed massive lover of all sorts of maxi skirts, especially from MAJE PARIS), so my new favorite fashion pieces served me well during my time at the wonderful Amalfi Coast. By the way, dresses and skirts with maxi length are great companions for fall fashion if you combine them with knitwear or a lovely long coat. This way you don’t have to completely get rid of your summer wardrobe and keep your summer vacation in mind (and your resolutions for next year as well).
